At 6.00am we get a government warning about a fire Hanoi. They were warning everyone about the appropriate use of electrical equipment. So where was the government warning about the rain? This is the biggest, wettest rain I have seen since India. Rain does seem to follow us wherever we go.
Located within the Ninh Binh Province of North Vietnam - Trang An is our next destination.
The air is humid and tropical. The landscape is filled with karst towers and cones, draped in natural rain forest, the land is filled with lotus plants, rice paddy fields and waterways. The population is small and looks quite old. The majority of families are involved in subsistence agriculture, but many of the properties are uninhabited.
Our homestay comprised of a group of bungalows on stilts nestled into the rock face. There were animals everywhere. It is very beautiful, but very, very wet. We were unable to to explore the hidden waterways as it was just too stormy, so we went on a long walk despite the thunder, the lightening and the rain. It was so very warm, it was like taking a very long hot shower. This is the first experience of a jungle-like climate.
